| Key Features of the VSI
To achieve its goal of scientific literacy for Vermont's children, the VSI has developed a two tiered professional development model.
The well-established, Tier 1 component of the VSI encompasses a three year sequence of intensive science learning experiences leading to a master's degree in science education for K-8 teachers.
VSI Tier 2 is a one year professional development program for K-8 teachers that focuses on mastery of science content knowledge, specialized content knowledge associated with the teaching of science and general teaching practice.
